Complaint filed against Alabama Chief Justice candidate

One of the candidates running for Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice is under fire after accusations of violating federal election law. Democratic candidate Bob Vance is accused of making a $2,000 contribution from his state campaign account to Barack Obama's presidential campaign in 2008.

Alabama Republican Party Chairman Bill Armistead filed a complaint with the Federal Elections Commission on Thursday. The complaint states that Vance should have registered as a federal campaign committee after he made the contribution. Vance denies the claim, saying he did everything he was supposed to do and was never advised to report anything different after making the donation.

Vance and Republican Roy Moore are running against each other for Chief Justice.
