Concert to benefit Philippine Typhoon victims

Some Alabama singers are lending their voices to help those affected by the Typhoon Haiyan.{}{}

The concert titled "Alabama Sings!" will take place in the Hill Recital Hall on the campus of Birmingham-Southern College on Tuesday, January 14th. It will begin at 7 p.m. Admission is free with a donation at the door and all proceeds will go to the American Red Cross. "Alabama Sings!" will feature solo performances from 15 professional singers.

The typhoon struck the Philippines on November 8, 2013, causing widespread destruction. According to statistics from the UN Office for the coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, 6,155 people have been confirmed dead, 1,785 are missing and 4.1 million are homeless. This is the deadliest natural disaster on record to hit the Philippines.
