Connecticut governor set to sign gun control bill

Lawmakersin Connecticut have passed a wide ranging gun control law and now are awaitingthe Governor's signature.{}The new law includes new restrictions on weapons and large capacityammunition magazines as a response to last year's deadly school shooting inNewtown.

Thegovernor is expected to sign the wide-ranging bill at midday Thursday.

Inaddition to the gun restrictions, the legislation also addresses mental healthand school security.

Some ofthe measures take effect right away. Those include expansion of the state'sassault weapons ban, background checks for all firearms sales and a ban on thesale or purchase of magazines that hold more than 10 rounds.
