Coosa Valley Electric sends crews to Georgia

Two crews from Coosa Valley Electric Cooperative were dispatched to Georgia to restore power in the wake of Snow Storm Pax.{} Officials with Southern Rivers Energy say that nearly half of its consumers are without power.{} CVEC sent 10 men to Georgia to help with storm recovery efforts.

Statewide, cooperatives are sending dozens of crews to Georgia and South Carolina to help those cooperatives rebuild their systems.{} Trees and tree limbs have toppled under the weight of ice accumulations and knocked down power lines and poles.{} With such widespread damage, individual utilities don't have enough workers on hand to restore all of the damage in a timely manner.{}

Coosa Valley Electric serves nearly 17,000 consumers in Talladega, St. Clair, Shelby, Clay, Etowah and Calhoun counties.
