Copper Thieves strike Hueytown Church

For the second time this summer, copper thieves struck a Hueytown's Cross Road Baptist Church, and its associate pastor wants the community to keep watch.{}

"If we didn't let the community know that there was this kind of element in the community, I think we'd probably be failing part of our mission as a church to care for the community," said Associate Pastor Jason Green.{}

Although there are no suspects at this time, police plan to interview several residents near the church. Meanwhile, the church plans to replace the units and build a fence for protection.

"If people would come and ask for help, they would find us more than willing to give whatever help we could, but instead they choose to steal," added Green.{}

Copper thieves first struck the church in May.{}
