Corrections officer on leave after DUI charge

DeKalb County corrections officer Lucas Yancey has been placed on administrative leave until August 22, 2012 after being charged with DUI by Alabama State Troopers around 1am Friday.

Mr. Yancey supposedly left the roadway, causing damage to a dwelling on County Road 72 in Fyffe. He was treated and released from DeKalb Regional Medical Center - he had no serious injuries.

Sheriff Harris said, "It's an unfortunate incident.{} Lucas is an outstanding corrections officer and is a great asset to the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office."

The Alabama State Troopers Office is still investigating the case. Yancey was placed on administrative leave until his court date which is set for August 22, 2012.
