Birmingham City Council President Roderick Royal not seeking re-election
Birmingham City Council President Roderick Royal informed ABC 33/40's Marissa Mitchell today that he doesn't plan to run for re-election as a councilor.
"I have no intention of running for office." Royal said to Mitchell.
Royal was first elected to city council in 2001, and was named president in 2009 upon council reorganization.
Royal currently serves on the Transportation and Communications Committee and the Planning and Zoning Committee. He says a formal announcement at a later time.
