      "Only child" households on the rise

      Couples having only one child is quickly becoming the 'new normal' in American life, according to recent studies and Census figures.

      Focus @ 4's Marissa Mitchell is taking a look into the phenomenon. Mitchell speaks with two Samford University family and child experts who say health, economic and cultural issues could contribute to a couple's decision to have only one child. Family studies professor and author Clara Gerhardt says another possible factor is women's decisions to have children later.
