Court hearing resumes Thursday on Birmingham Board of Education case

A Jefferson County Circuit Judge will hear testimony Thursday morning on the Birmingham Board of Education's case involving the superintendent's firing and the State Board of Education's takeover.

Judge Houston Brown heard hours of testimony Wednesday from Birmingham City Schools Superintendent Dr. Craig Witherspoon , Birmingham Board of Education President Dr. Edward Maddox, and former interim superintendent Samuetta Drew.{}

Brown will decide whether to replace restraining orders with injunctions after a temporary restraining order reinstated Witherspoon after board members voted to fire him. Another TRO prevented the board from interfering with the state.{}

Court resumes at 9 am.{}
