Update: One killed in early morning crash on I-459
HOOVER - AL —
UPDATE:The Jefferson County Coroner has confirmed to ABC 33/40 that one person was killed in the accident this morning, which involved 3 vehicles including a state trooper cruiser. A car was traveling south on 459 when it struck a recreational vehicle before hitting the cruiser. It then left the roadway and went air born, striking a utility pole. None of the 4 occupants in the RV were injured. The trooper involved is in good condition and has gone home for the day. All lanes of 459 have now been reopened.
A traffic accident on Interstate 459 is causing some lane closures early Tuesday morning. The accident happened around 2:00 a.m. underneath the flyover, on the southbound side. Hoover Police say only the inside lane is open right now between Highway 31 and Highway 150.
Although, we have not yet been able to confirm what caused the accident, the area is where Alabama Department of Transportation workers have been doing a repaving project. We've learned no construction workers were injured in the accident.
We have a crew bringing updates as they become available.
