David Carrington announced Saturday on Facebook and Twitter his intention to run for another term as the Jefferson County Commission president.
Carrington said there is still a lot of work to be done in rehabbing a county, which he described to be in a "mess" in November 2010 when he was sworn into office.
"When I was sworn into office in November 2010, Jefferson County was in a mess - fiscally, legally and politically," Carrington said. "Much has been accomplished in the last few years, but much still remains to be accomplished. As such, I'm announcing today that I will be seeking another term on the Jefferson County Commission."
Most recently, Carrington spent most of his time working on the county's bankruptcy exit plan, which is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
To date, there are no official challengers for Carrington though there are several candidates rumored to be interested in joining the ballot.
