Daytona International Speedway wants to host college football game
Daytona International Speedway is interested in getting into the business of college football.
Speedway president Joie Chitwood says track renovations make it a good venue for a game. Daytona will unveil a completely new stadium-style grandstand early in 2016.
"We have the property," Chitwood told SI.com, "where fans can camp inside and roll out to the game. It could be the largest tailgate inside one stadium."
Daytona already can offer onsite camping and tailgating, and he new renovations make it more fan friendly. The frontstretch will be rebuilt with three levels of concourses.
Daytona hasn't hosted a football game since 1975 when Daytona-based Bethune Cookman played some of it's home games at the racetrack.
