Denny Hamlin waits for clearance to return to NASCAR track

Denny Hamlin may be tired of following "doctors orders".

The NASCAR driver will miss his fourth consecutive Sprint Cup race this weekend in Richmond, VA.

Hamlin was taken out of the car after he sustained a compression fracture of a vertebra in his lower back at Auto Club Speedway in California last month.

Hamlin knows that the doctors have his best interest in mind, but given the chance, he'd have been in the car and on the track a week after his back injury.

Hamlin says he plans to start at Talladega Superspeedway next week, even if he has to give way to a backup driver after the first caution.
