Deontay Wilder's quest for a title shot will go through a former champ.
The Tuscaloosa born fighter has a bout with Siarhei Liakhovich later this summer in California. Liakhovich held the WBO heavyweight title in 2006.
Wilder is ranked as the No. 8 contender for the WBA heavyweight crown. He's 28-0 with 28 knockouts, including a first round TKO of Audley Harrison in April.
Wilder's match with Liakhovich is set for August 9th in California. The fight will be broadcast on Showtime cable.
