District attorney's investigator charged with DUI in Fort Payne
An investigator for the district attorney in the Ninth Judicial Court was arrested Saturday morning, charged with drunken driving.
Fort Payne police arrested Gary Williams following a traffic stop at around 3:30 a.m. A witness called police after seeing the Dodge Charger Williams was driving hit a guardrail on Interstate 59 before heading north towards Rainsville on Highway 35.
Officers reportedly saw Williams' vehicle moving erratically before making the traffic stop. It is unknown at this time if he has hired an attorney.
Williams' bio on dacherokee.com states he is a Child Support Investigator covering Cherokee and DeKalb Counties and a 1994 graduate of Jacksonville State University where he earned a bachelors degree in social work. He received a masters degree in social work from Alabama A&M University in 2000 before graduating from the Northeast Alabama Police Academy in 2004.
