District seven in Birmingham gets a pick-me-up
BIRMINGHAM - AL —
The West-End neighborhood in Birmingham got a little cleaner, Saturday, thanks to the hard work of some District Seven volunteers.
Birmingham City Councilman, Jay Roberson, hosted a District Seven "clean sweep." Volunteers of all ages helped pick up trash along Pearson Avenue.
Some volunteers say revitalizing neighborhoods like these helps to move the city forward.
"I like to work," Zachariah Frazier, said. "And do things that's going to benefit me or benefit someone. It's good to know you helped someone. That's the kind of thing I like to use my time for."
Roberson says it speaks volumes for those who volunteered their Saturday to help their community.
"Character is a lot," he said. "And for you to take the sacrifice to come into your Birmingham communities and clean up means a lot. Hopefully, that will help you out on down the road."
Saturday marked the second "clean sweep" in District Seven since Roberson has been on city council.
