Early morning crash kills one person and leaves two injured

An early morning crash on Interstate 65 has left one person dead and two others injured. Vestavia police say the accident occurred about 5:45 A.M. when a motorist drove southbound in the northbound lanes of I-65 between the Alford Ave and Vestavia Hills/Hoover exit. A section of the highway was shutdown for a couple of hours. Police say the driver who entered the interstate driving the wrong way was killed. Two other vehicles were involved in the wreck. One driver was taken to Brookwood medical center and was treated and released. The other driver was transported to UAB. The name of the person killed has not been released.
