East Alabama bank robbery suspect arrested in Atlanta

      A man wanted for robbing a bank in east Alabama earlier this month was apprehended in Atlanta on Sunday.

      Eli Scrutchins, 39, was arrested in connection with a robbery at a Farmers and Merchants Bank branch in Oxford March 5.{} Police say he was armed with a revolver when he demanded money from an employee.{}

      A U.S. Marshals regional task force and the FBI launched a joint investigation to find Scrutchins.{} Aside from the robbery, authorities say he faces charges in Georgia on possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and has violated parole for another charge in Michigan.{}

      Officials are not sure when Scrutchins will be extradited to Alabama.
