State troopers: Use of electronic communication device while driving factor in fatal crash in Cullman
CULLMAN, Ala. -- A Cullman man was killed while riding his motorcycle Wednesday morning, and Alabama State Troopers believe the use of an "electronic communication device" while driving was a factor in the fatal accident.According to Trooper Curtis Summerville, 58-year-old Jerry Ulmer Kendall died just before 7 a.m. after the motorcycle he was operating was struck by a pickup truck on U.S. 31. Kendall was pronounced dead at the scene.The driver of the truck -- a 17-year-old Cullman native -- was using an electronic device at the time of the crash. The teen wasn't injured. Summerville didn't disclose what type of device was being used by the driver.State trooper continue to investigate.
