A new study finds diabetes patients using electronic health records decreased the number of times they ended up in the emergency room. There was at least a 5% decrease in ER visits and a 5% decrease in overall hospitalizations. Doctors say electronic records also make it easier for doctors to communicate with each other about a specific patient.Researchers say the next step is to look at how much money may be saved with fewer ER visits.
