Embattled Homewood hotel forced to close, guests left looking for new accommodations

HOMEWOOD, Alabama -- Guests at America's Best Value Inn & Suites packed up and left Thursday.

The Homewood hotel lost its business license and an extension to keep it running was denied. According to Homewood Police, the hotel had seen more than 100 incidents of criminal activity over 32 months.

Members of the Homewood City Council called the business a nuisance and said the hotel is not the type of business they want in the city.

Guests who left the hotel said they were not informed about the existing problems between the city and the America's Best Inn & Suites. ABC 33/40 reached out to the hotel for a comment and our calls were not returned.
