      Emergency Agencies Prep for Snow

      {}The mention of the "s" word, has people across Central Alabama getting ready for winter weather. Emergency management offices are prepping for precipitation. Jefferson county EMA officers will be in at 6 am Thursday morning - lining up law enforcement, fire and road crews.The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office is ready to help with special transport to area hospitals for medical personnel {}- they're stocked with snow chains and they've got search and rescue teams on standby. The Roads and Transportation department says its sand trucks are filled and ready to go.{}"We monitor local municipalities, fire department, dispatchers, those folks we monitor so we know if they have an issue and we can call and ask if there is assistance that we can provide for them," Horace Walker, EMA Officer, Jefferson County said.Emergency Management Agencies around Central Alabama told us, they'll be monitoring the weather conditions and roads throughout the next 24 hours. In Shelby County, the highway departments are on standby, as well as law enforcement and fire crews. Chilton County told us they're ready to coordinate and deploy crews. St Clair County told us right now, they're notifying agencies and alerting residents and schools through social media. And in Blount county, the EMA is expecting snow accumulation - keeping all police, fire, and road crews ready.
