Enrollment in Alabama marketplace increasing

      Enrollment in the state's health insurance marketplace is increasing, although the number served is only a tiny part of the uninsured in Alabama.{} The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services reports that through November 30, there were 3,448 people who had selected an insurance plan though the marketplace.{} That number for the first two months of operation was up significantly from the 624 who enrolled in the first month.


      The number of people completing applications in their first two months was more than 25,000.{} It was nearly 10,600 in the first month.{} The increase covers a small portion of the more than 675,000 Alabamians under 65 who are uninsured.{} The insurance marketplace opened October 1st.{}
