Etowah County mother arrested for child endangerment
ETOWAH COUNTY - AL —
Deputies with the Etowah County Sheriff's office have charged an 18-year-old mother with child endangerment.
Police arrested Katie Renea Halbert of Attalla over the weekend. They say Halbert's 2-year-old son was found alone, by a family member, wandering outside of a house in the Ivalee community. The child was carrying a suicide note written by Halbert. Unable to find Halbert, the family member called 911. Halbert was later found unharmed in nearby wooded area.
She is currently being held in the Etowah County Detention Center on a $1,000 property bond. Her child is now in care of the Department of Human Resources.
