Guard ceremony, funeral planned for former Chldersburg firefighter killed fighting arson blaze in Ga.

Former Childersburg Fire Captain Jeff Little will be laid to rest Friday in Sylacauga. Little was killed while fighting an arson fire as a 12-year veteran with Waycross fire in Georgia, Sunday, December 15, 2013.

A fallen firefighter in Georgia will return home to Alabama Thursday to be remembered in a guard ceremony.

Waycross Fire Lt. Jeff Little, who served 17 years as a fireman in Childersburg, was killed in an arson fire at a vacant home Sunday. Police have arrested a juvenile suspect in the case on charges of murder and arson.

A procession for Little will begin at 3 p.m. along 1st Street Southwest and Highway 76 in downtown Childersburg followed by a guard ceremony at First Assembly of God Church in Sylacauga, where a funeral is scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday.

The U.S. Honor Flag will be transferred from Waycross police to Sylacauga police for posting. Little was a 12-year veteran with the Waycross Fire Department.
