Farm Day at the Birmingham Zoo

The Birmingham Zoo is inviting everyone out to Farm Day on April 12.{}

This fun-filled and educational celebration of Alabama's farming heritage will be held in the Junior League of Birmingham-Hugh Kaul Children's Zoo.

Farm Day is a community focused event to celebrate the state's agricultural history with a special emphasis on Birmingham Zoo farm animals. Guests will have the opportunity to watch a blacksmith make horseshoes, crate rural-themed arts and crafts, examine several antique tractors and farm equipment, plant garden crop seeds and much more. Booths from Alabama 4-H, Alabama Cooperative Extension System, Alabama Farmers Federation/Alabama Young Farmers, Blacksmiths and Junior Master Gardens will be on hand to answer any questions you may have about farm tools, agriculture and local farming opportunity. There will also be a wildlife show at the Wildlife Stage after the Farm day Activities.

All Farm Day activities are free with a paid admission to the zoo. Hours are from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more information on the zoo, go to
