FDA looking into regulating tanning bed companies
The U.S. Food and Drug Administrator is calling for tighter regulations on indoor tanning beds.
The FDA is concerned about equipment malfunctions which have led to some consumers being over exposed to radiation. Indoor tanning beds are not subject to review by the FDA. They are classified as low-risk medical devices- the same category you would find bandages.
Under a new proposal, companies would have to prove to the FDA their sunlamps are safe.
