FEDERAL DISASTER ASSISTANCE REQUEST APPROVED FOR ALABAMA
By Roy Wood
Several counties in Alabama, including Jefferson County, will be eligible for federal disaster assistance as a result of this past week's tornadoes and severe storms. Governor Robert Bentley requested a federal disaster declaration, with the support of all members of Alabama's congressional delegation. President Obama issued a major federal disaster declaration for the State last night. The declaration will make eligible households, businesses, and localities in designated counties eligible for federal assistance to speed recovery from the storms.
