FEMA Disaster Assistance Deadline Extended

Montgomery, Ala. _FEMA has extended the deadline to apply for disaster assistance in Alabama after receiving a request from Governor Bentley. The new deadline is Tuesday, July 15th. Victims from the April 28th to May 5th severe storms can apply. The storms affected about nine Alabama counties.

Some of the counties that are already approved for assistance includes: Blount, DeKalb, Etowah, Jefferson, Lee, Limestone, Mobile and Tuscaloosa.

The U.S. Small Business Administration's deadline to apply for disaster recovery loans also has been extended to July 15th.

Homeowners, renters and businesses can apply for an SBA disaster loan at the centers, which are open Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. through July 15th. The centers will be closed Friday, July 4th. FEMA representatives are located at these centers to answer questions.
