Six teams hoisted the blue map state trophy at the finals of the Final 48 AHSAA state basketball championships on Friday at the BJCC.

The Woodland girls were the first to be crowned state champions after they handed Prattville Christian its first and only loss of the season in the Class 2A title game.

Tanner earned the boys 2A title with a 61-45 win over LaFayette.

Andrew Kilcrease coached in both the girls and boys 1A title games for Brantley, but he was only able to take home one state championship. The Bulldogs' girls team took down Keith 53-42 while the boys fell one point short to St. Jude, 57-56.

The Wenonah girls dropped a heartbreaker to Faith Academy in the 5A championship matchup, losing by one point, 51-50. The Dragons' top-ranked boys squad avenged the girls' loss with an impressive 75-60 win over Center Point. The 5A state championship victory was a fitting end to the Wenonah boys' stellar 2012-13 season. They finished the year with a 34-2 record.
