Fire fighters rescue Birmingham woman from burning home
BIRMINGHAM - AL —
A woman had to be rescued from her house, Wednesday afternoon, after it caught fire.
It happened near 52nd St. North in Birmingham. Fire fighters say the single story house caught fire. They believe it started in the kitchen area.
Battalion Chief John Whitmer says fire fighters worked quick to put the fire and smoke out before rescuing the woman.
"We did find an elderly female [inside]," Whitmer said. "[Fire fighters] got the fire knocked own and got her out and she's being transported. I know she was breathing when we brought her out."
The woman's identity has not yet been released and her condition is unknown.
Investigators are trying to determine how that fire started.
