Plane lands safely in Birmingham during emergency diversion

An American Airlines jet flying from Jacksonville, Fla. to Dallas-Fort Worth made an emergency landing at Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport, Sunday, April 6, 2014. (

American Airlines flight 1363 for Dallas/Ft Worth diverted to Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport around 8:30am Sunday. The plane departed Jacksonville, Florida heading to Texas when it encountered what appears to be a pressurization issue.

American Airlines says the emergency was declared as a precaution. The plane with its 130 passengers and crew of 5 landed without incident.The aircraft, an MD-80, was taken out of service. The passengers are boarding another flight for their destination.
