Flu season picks up steam

The flu is becoming more widespread across the nation and we still haven't hit the peak of the season.

However, the CDC Shows some improvement for Alabama, which now has "regional" flu activity down from "widespread," last week.

While that is some good news, doctors are still recommending that you get a flu shot.

Dr. Colleen Donohue with Brookwood Medical Center says, "I would still encourage people to get the flu shot up until, the beginning of February, you can still have some protection."

Flu season is from October until April with the peak being in January.{}
