For new moms: How bed sharing can lead to breastfeeding more
A new study finds moms who share the bed with their baby have a tendency to breastfeed longer. The study followed moms through the first year of their child's life. Doctors say the finding is not surprising, because when the infant is right next to the mom it is easier to nurse. But, the practice could be dangerous. Sudden Infant Death Syndrome remains a huge concern in bed sharing.Medical experts say a better alternative is to room share rather than bed share, because the benefits do not outweigh the risks.
