Forestdale community gets a makeover

      County leaders{}held a neighborhood clean-up in the Forestdale area on Saturday.{}The cleanup{}was the first in a series throughout district one to help with the problems associated with lack of staff due to layoffs with the Jefferson County Roads and Transportation Department.

      Commissioner George Bowman says, "It's a demonstration of the community coming together, leaders coming together, working together."

      More than 100 volunteers helped spruce up Roberta Road, Roberta Circle and Swim Club Road areas.{}

      Bowman is working to have the County cleanup some of the main roads in the areas such as Daniel Payne and Cherry Avenue.{}

      Because Forestdale is so large, organizers are splitting the clean up in phases. The next phase of clean up will be in two weeks.
