Michael Williams has cashed in on his pro potential.
The former Alabama tight end agreed to a $2.22 million, four-year rookie contract with the Detroit Lions. The deal includes a $65,148 signing bonus.
Detroit drafted Williams in the seventh round of last month's NFL Draft. He was the last of nine Alabama players picked, which is a modern day record for the Crimson Tide program.
Williams signed with Alabama out of Pickens County High School in 2008. The defensive end recruit was eventually moved to tight end and started there each of the past three seasons.
Williams caught seven touchdowns in his college career and more than half that total came in last season.
