Former LSU star Jared Mitchell added to Birmingham Barons roster

Outfielder Jared Mitchell will join the Birmingham Barons and begin his third stint with the team this week.Mitchell spent the first half of the season at Class AAA Charlotte and hit .199 with five home runs and 14 RBI in 53 games for the Knights. He spent parts of the 2012 and 2013 season with the Barons.Mitchell will replace right-handed pitcher Parker Frazier on the 25-man roster after Parker earned a promotion, and will take Mitchell's old roster spot at Class AAA.Frazier went 2-3 with a 2.62 ERA in 34.1 innings this season.Mitchell was a two-sport star at LSU, helping the football team to a BCS national title (2007) and the baseball to the CWS title (2009). He was drafted by the White Sox in the first round (23rd overall) of the June 2009 First-Year Player Draft.
