Former McGill-Toolen star Jason Smith re-commits to Auburn
Jason Smith has re-committed to the Auburn Tigers and plans to join the football program in January of 2015.
AuburnSports.com was the first to report the story.
Smith was a quarterback signee with Auburn in 2013 but did not qualify. He's attending Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College and plans to play quarterback for the Bulldogs in the fall before transferring to Auburn.
Smith redshirted at MGCCC last season.
It's unclear what position Smith will play at Auburn. He was a quarterback at McGill-Toolen High School but was named the MVP of the 2012 Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Classic playing wide receiver.
The 6-foot-1, 182-pound Smith was a member of the Rivals250 and rated as the nation's No. 15 athlete in the 2013 recruiting cycle.
