Former Alabama Senator seeks Attorney General as trial witness


Former Alabama Senator Lowell Barron is calling on Attorney General Luther Strange to testify in his campaign finance trial. {}However, the attorney general is trying to avoid taking the stand.Court documents show Strange argues he shouldn't be called to testify because his office handled the investigation that led to a grand jury indictment of Barron and his campaign assistant. {}Strange also says he has no direct knowledge of information related to the criminal case.Barron's lawyer obtained a subpoena to call Attorney General Strange as a defense witness.
