Former Tide star JaMychal Green signs with Spurs
It's not a guaranteed deal, but the San Antonio Spurs offered JaMychal Green a major vote of confidence when it signed the former Alabama star to a two-year contract on Thursday.The deal is partially guaranteed and the terms were not announced. The NBA's minimum salary is $507,000.Green played on the Spurs summer league team last month in Las Vegas, averaging 7.8 points and 6.5 rebounds in six games.
The 6-foot-8, 230-pound forward spent last season in Europe, playing for Roanne in the French Pro A League. Green spent 2012-13 with the Austin Toros of the NBA Developmental League.
Green, a former McDonald's All-American and product of St. Jude in Montgomery, was a four-year starter at Alabama where he earned All-SEC honors three times before going undrafted in the 2012 NBA Draft.
He is one of only two players in program history (Robert Horry) to rank among the top 15 in scoring (12th, 1,656 points), rebounding (11th, 912), blocks (5th, 212) and steals (11th, 125). In all, he played in 123 career contests at Alabama, making 114 starts.
