      Police believe former student is behind threat at UNA

      University of North Alabama police say that 22-year-old Brian Mitchell of Madison, Alabama surrendered to police on Friday.

      Police say Mitchell is behind a message posted on social media site, Yik Yak, that threatened UNA on Tuesday. Mitchell posted that he was going to "Shoot up UNA," according to UNA Police Chief Robert Pastula.

      A student noticed the post and notified campus police, which forced the chief to place the school on high-alert and request help from other agencies. Kilby Elementary School was placed on lockdown for short period as well.{} {}Mitchell was a junior at UNA and lived on campus at Rice Hall. He is no longer enrolled.Mitchell faces charges of making a terrorist threat.
