Fort Payne man charged with breaking into home in Cherokee County, assaulting ex-girlfriend, others with knife

CHEROKEE COUNTY, Alabama -- A Fort Payne man was arrested this week after he allegedly broke into a home in Cherokee County and assaulted his ex-girlfriend and others with a knife, authorities said.Jeremy Don Williams, 34, is charged with second-degree domestic violence, first-degree burglary and second-degree assault in connection with the incident.According to Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver, Williams was apprehended by authorities in DeKalb County after arrest warrants were obtained. Around 1 a.m. Friday, he was booked into the Cherokee County Detention Center on bonds totaling $100,000.{}
