Franklin Co. school system to hold town hall after teachers arrested for relationship with student

      FranklinCounty schools officials say they're planning a town hall meeting in Decemberto discuss the recent arrests of two teachers for having a sexual relationshipwith a female student.{} The teachers,both from Vina High School, were arrested less than a week apart.

      SuperintendentGary Williams told Huntsville ABC affiliate WAAY-TV a town hall meeting has beenscheduled for Dec. 9. The meeting is for the whole community and says themeeting will feature District Attorney Joe Rushing, Franklin County SheriffShannon Oliver among others.{} Speakerswill discuss these recent incidents, what to look for if an inappropriaterelationship is taking place, and the legal ramifications of such arelationship.

      On November8, Sonny Tibbs, a Vina High School physical education teacher, was arrested afteradmitting to authorities that he was having a sexual relationship with a17-year-old student.{} Five days later, mathteacher and boys basketball coach, Brian Keeton was arrested for allegedly havingan sexual relationship with a different 17 year old female student.

      Both havebeen suspended without pay and are free on bond.
