ANNISTON, Ala. (AP) - A slow-moving storm dumped large amounts of rain on east Alabama, causing flooding that left cars floating in places.
The National Weather Service says an estimated 4.7 inches of rain fell over Oxford in less than two hours on Wednesday afternoon. Parts of Anniston had a similar amount of rain.
The deluge flooded parking lots and roads because the water couldn't drain away quickly enough. Residents posted photos on social media sites showing partially submerged cars.
The weather service issued a flash flood warning for the area.
