Tax filers may qualify to have their federal and state tax returns prepared and e-filed free at a special one-day help site Saturday, April 5, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Columbiana Public Library, 50 Lester St., in Columbiana.
IRS-certified volunteers will provide the free service to filers whose household income was below $52,000 in 2013 or who file a simple tax return.
Taxpayers should call 205-669-5812 for an appointment and to find out what documents to bring.
There are more than 100 free tax help sites open now in Alabama. Filers can call the IRS toll-free at 1-800-906-9887 or visit www.irs.gov and search for "Free Tax Help" to find the closest site. Some sites specialize in helping senior citizens with their taxes.
