Free Vein Screening In February

It's{} a disorder that affects a lot of people and next month, you can receive a free vein screening.

Birmingham Vascular Associates will host the screening for Varicose Veins and Venous Insufficiency on Thursday, February 13 at Trinity Medical Clinic Irondale. Screening times will be from 7:30-10:30 a.m., Noon-2:30 p.m., and 3:30- 6 p.m. The facility is located at 2000 Crestwood Boulevard, Suite 200 in Irondale.

Varicose veins affect one out of two people age 50 and older, and 15 to 25 percent of adults. Risk factors include age, a family history of varicose veins, jobs that require standing or sitting for a long time, and obesity. Venous insufficiency is a very common condition resulting from decreased blood flow from the leg veins up to the heart, with pooling of blood in the veins. Left untreated, it can cause skin pigmentation changes and leg ulcers.
