Fuel spill closes interstate ramp
FAIRFIELD - AL —
A blown tire appears to be the cause of an accident which has closed the eastbound entrance ramp to I-59/20. Fairfield police and fire along with Jefferson county EMA and DOT are working to clear a fuel spill as a result of the truck flipping over. The fuel leak has been contained and efforts are now focused on the clean up.
The truck was carrying chocolate milk. Clean up is expected to take several hours. All eastbound traffic is being diverted off the interstate at the 118 exit and re-routed thru the City of Fairfield to the 119 on ramp.
The truck driver was taken to the hospital but is expected to be okay.
