Gas drops below $3.00
SUMITON - AL —
People have been getting gas while the getting is good in Walker County. A handful of stations are boasting $2.99 a gallon gas.
All day Friday, you could hardly find a pump that was not being used. One lady even drove as far away as Cordova to fill up.
Now, everyone is hoping the prices keep dropping.
Cathy Green drove from Graysville to fill up her SUV in Sumiton. She says the trip was worth it. "Awesome, it's totally awesome," said Green. "I deliberately drove up here just to pay $2.99 gas."
The low price is a welcome sight for small business owners like Terry Hamrick, who runs his own landscaping business. He says these gas prices make filling up both his truck and his mower much easier.
"It's amazing what it's doing for that because I burn a lot of gas everyday in that (mower)," says Hamrick.
Right next door in Dora, drivers are taking advantage of the $2.99 gas as well.
For, Cynthia Ratliff who was on her way home to Cordova, she says this price drop couldn't of come at a better time
"Perfect timing, my son was home on leave from Iraq and Fort Hood because it saved the day for us. He drove here from Fort Hood so this is just a special gift," Ratliff said.
