Pulling uninsured drivers off Alabama's roads

A new law will pull uninsured drivers off the road starting next year.

A{}new program will be used by county license offices and police to verify whether a driver has liability insurance. It will take just seconds for counties to check when drivers have car tags issued or renewed.

State law currently requires drivers to have insurance but an estimated 22 percent still don't. That's why another law was passed setting up the program.
