Gov. Bentley to address nationwide synthetic drug operation during news conference in Montgomery

MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- Alabama Governor Robert Bentley will discuss the ongoing efforts to end the sale and manufacturing of synthetic drugs across the country during a news conference this afternoon in Montgomery.Bentley -- who will be joined by state law enforcement agency secretary Spencer Collier, the Drug Enforcement Administration and other law enforcement members -- is expected to talk in-depth about the nationwide crackdown on synthetic drugs and Alabama's new comprehensive synthetic drug and asset forfeiture legislation, according to a release. State lawmakers will also be in attendance at the news conference, which will begin at 1:30 p.m. in the Old House Chamber. The DEA announced today that it had broadened its efforts after serving hundreds of search and arrest warrants in at least 25 states.
